Doctoral Student/Ph.D. Candidate (m/f/d) - Functional epigenomics in leukemia
Über uns:
Our research lab is situated in the Robert Bosch Center for Tumor Diseases (RBCT). RBCT is a newly established translational cancer research institute located at the Robert Bosch Health Campus in Stuttgart, Germany, in direct proximity to the Robert Bosch Hospital (RBK). As an integral part of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) South West and the Comprehensive Cancer Center Tübingen-Stuttgart, RBCT is exclusively dedicated to innovative cancer research and treatment. Our group focuses on unraveling complex gene regulatory networks that govern the pathogenesis of hematological malignancies, including myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We employ cutting-edge techniques such as NGS-coupled multiomics, high-throughput screening, and gene interference or editing on tumor cell lines, primary patient samples, and mouse tumor models. Our primary research goal is to identify novel molecular biomarkers and therapeutic targets/approaches in human MDS or AML.
Aufgaben:
  • Lead or participate in research projects involving epigenetic mechanisms driving human leukemia using state-of-the-art multidisciplinary molecular techniques including:
  • Standard wet lab techniques, including molecular cloning, DNA/RNA/protein detection, immunoprecipitation, cell culture, cell transfection, flow cytometry, RNA interference, gene editing, retro- or lentiviral transduction, etc.
  • Advanced methods coupled with next generation sequencing (NGS), such as ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN or CUT&TAG, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CLIP/eCLIP, HiC/capture HiC
  • NGS data analysis and interpretation
  • Ex vivo or in vivo tumor modelling
  • Internal and external collaborations to achieve the fulfillment of research goals
  • Supervisory duties on junior members (e.g. interns) in the lab
  • Attending and presenting research data at local, national and international seminars or meetings
  • Summarizing work results for scientific publications
Qualifikationen:
  • Adequate professional qualifications:
  • Master degree in life science, e.g. Biomedicine, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or similar
  • Research training in molecular biology, cell biology, epigenetics or relevant disciplines
  • Documented experience through scientific publications
  • Knowledge in tumor biology and RNA biology would be a plus
  • First-hand experience in gene gain- or loss-of-function and NGS methods would be highly desired
  • Enthusiasm for engaging in cancer research and awareness of the translational significance of research work
  • Capability of working independently as well as good spirit of team working
  • Openness to personal growth and ongoing learning initiatives
  • Competence in interpersonal communication, presentation, and scientific writing
  • Proficient English skills for both oral and written communication for academic information exchange
Wir bieten:
  • RBCT provides excellent research facilities and a supportive environment for young researchers to further their career development. We prioritize the personal needs of candidates in their scientific training and offer a great opportunity to gain proficiency in a wide variety of modern technologies. Exceptional mentorship is a priority at your career development with us.
  • This position is partially supported by a DFG-funded project and institutional core funding, with funds available for supporting the whole duration of PhD work training.
